If you have to bluff, bluff small. Seinfeld's George Costanza's elaborate attempt to convince his welfare office that he's actively looking for work involves a fake company (Van Delay Industries) a fake interview, and a fake company phone number (actually Jerry's apartment). The bigger the lie, the more ridiculous you'll look when it all implodes....
A seasoned bluffer doesn't stretch the bounds of credibility too far. Here, scared that his job is on the line as the network targets a more youthful demographic, the Larry Sanders Show's Hank Kingsley, attempts to ‘hang' with hip hop stars the Wu Tang Clan....
Poor preparation is obviously the driver of much bluffing. Here, Yes Minister's Jim Hacker is invited to address a city farm on its first anniversary. With no previous knowledge of the subject and a poorly prepared speech, Hacker demonstrates the art of the shameless political bluffer, battling on till the very end...
